Everything You Need to Know About the Phottix Atlas II

Is the range really 350 meters? Yes. Depending on environment interference and transceiver orientation the range may be even farther. A Phottix product tester was triggering flashes at 600 meters with 90% success rate.

Will the Atlas II will work with the first Atlas? No, they are not compatible.

Will the Atlas II trigger flash triggers from other manufacturers? No, the Phottix Atlas II is compatible with the Phottix Odin and Strato Series of triggers.

How is the Atlas II compatible? The Phottix Atlas II is compatible with Phottix Odin, Strato II Multi 5-in-1 and Phottix Strato 4-in-1 Wireless Trigger Systems.

  1. Phottix Odin TCUs set on Channel 1, 2, 3 or 4 and in any group will trigger the Phottix Atlas II set on Channel 1, 2, 3 or 4. Other Odin TCU functions will not work with the Atlas II.
  2. Phottix Strato II Transmitter set on Channel 1, 2, 3 or 4 and in any group will trigger the Phottix Atlas II set on Channel 1, 2, 3 or 4.
  3. Phottix Strato transmitters will trigger the Atlas II on Channels 1 to 4.
  4. The Atlas II will trigger Strato receivers.
  5. The Atlas II will not trigger Strato II Multi or Odin receivers.

Do I need special cables to use the Atlas II as a wired or wireless shutter release? The standard Phottix Accessory Cables used with all Phottix products will connect an Atlas II to a camera for wired or wireless shutter release functions.

I’m trying to trigger my camera and flashes wirelessly – but the flash is going off before the camera’s shutter releases. What’s up with that? When using an Atlas II as a wireless shutter release any flashes on the same channel will fire before the camera does – they will not sync. One way around this is to use four Atlas IIs. One pair of Atlas IIs would be set to one channel and control shutter functions – the second pair would need to be set to a different channel, with one Atlas II in the camera hot shoe and another with a flash.

The Phottix Atlas is available from PASM Workshop at a special price for our members.

List price for 1 trigger set ~ HK$590, PASM Member price HK$515.

List price for 2 triggers set ~ HK$1,080, PASM Member Price HK$960.

To order, please email your order to sales@pasmworkshop.com or call our hotline at 6627 5277.

Intense Review on the Phottix Odin TTL Trigger for Canon

Image from The Phoblographer

The Phoblographer ran a long, thorough review on the Phottix Odin TTL Trigger for Canon (link to review here).  In short, the author loves the Phottix Odin and his conclusions are -

  • Decent build quality
  • Exceptional battery life
  • The best TTL metering I’ve seen (it’s like you’ve never taken the flash off the camera. And even then it sometimes meters better.)
  • A price you really can’t beat: US$330.00 for a Commander and Receiver at the time of writing this post. US$130 for a receiver.
  • Extremely easy to use.
  • Very portable.

Check out the following video review from the author as well.

For those interested in the trigger, don’t forget that we are selling it to our registered members at huge discount rate,

Phottix Strato II Multi 5-in-1 Trigger Set Review by FlashRaw

FlashRaw posted a very thorough review on the all new Phottix Strato II Multi 5-in-1 Trigger Set together with some really nice shots and demonstration pics.  The new Strato II line evolved from its much successful Strato I line with cool new features like 4 group selector; screw-down locks for both transmitters & receivers; dedicated On/Off Switches on both transmitters & receivers and improved compatibility with Nikon SB-600 Speedlight.

PASM Workshop is now carrying both the Nikon and Canon versions, sorry Sony lovers, guess you all have to wait a bit.  It comes in two different packings.  One is the 5-in-1 Tigger Set with a transmitter and receiver (HK$690 list price and PASM price is HK$630) for Canon and Nikon and one is the receiver only set for both Canon and Nikon (HK$345 list price and HK$320 for PASM members and fans). To order, you can (a) buy it online through our Products Page and payment is via Paypal or (b) send your orders to sales@pasm-workshop.com and our sales team will get back to you.

I’m not going into details of the new triggers as FlashRaw did a great job in review it, just extracting their end notes and conclusion here for your reference.
