Andy Strachwsky’s Asia Photography Tour 2012 @ PASM Workshop on 2-3 June 2012

It’s finally here, Andy Strachwsky from unknownphotographer.net is finally bringing his new LIGHT workshop to Asia and PASM Workshop will be hosting the Hong Kong seminars and workshops. S$375 (HK$2,320) for early bird registration, definitely a bargain for a 2-day workshop. Check out the following video where Andy will tell you what this tour is all about.

Andy Strachwsky, a lighting specialist and a professional retoucher for many years taught photography, lighting and retouching workshops around the world including Colombia, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Ireland, Germany, England, Spain, Canada, Singapore, Honk Kong, Malaysia and the United States. He also did a workshop for a company called creativeLIVE which was transmitted LIVE globally over the Internet with thousands of viewers.

During the tour Andy Strachwsky will conduct a seminar intended for the beginning photographer. Professional lighting adviser and retoucher Andy Strachwsky from unknownphotographer.net will go over the basics that you need to take your photography to the next level. His simplistic, laid back and real approach to photography is a refreshing breath of air in this industry that is polluted with marketing. Andy will go over everything you truly need to be able to take the photographs you want. He will be talking gear, lighting, composition and how to further yourself in the industry. If you are just starting out and you feel like you don’t know where to go, join us for this one of a kind photography seminar!

He will also conduct different levels of photographic and post-processing workshops.  Begins by understanding the dynamics of light, explore complicated multi light scenarios using a variety of modifiers. Andy will also cover the topics of color and light, as well as balancing different temperature lights. The whole workshop will feature a high fashion workflow with a heavy lean towards posing and communication with models and pre-visualization as well as a complete understanding of the physics of light with special participations of Fashion Photographer Richard Chen, Beauty & Glamour Photographer Borj Meneses and Stylist Don Cristobal.

Want Tickets to Sundance Screenings in London? – Enter the Langham Place Short Film Competition

Was at the Langham Place Short Films Screenings last night and they showcased three feature shorts, namely, the Club, the Spa and the Room and the most interesting part of it is that all three short films were shot with the iPhone. Check out the making of videos here and have a taste of what’s it all about.

The other highlight of the evening was when Sean Seah, Vice President – E-Business, Loyalty and Partner Marketing of Langham, announced the Langham Short Film Competition where the winner of the competition will be flown to London, stay at the awesome Langham London, be able to attend an exclusive networking breakfast with the heavy weights of Sundance Institute and other filmmakers, attend Sundance screenings and if lucky, have access to other Sundance panel events as well. So all budding filmmakers and videographers, this is definitely a competition that you want to look into.

Kids Photo Fun Day – 17 March 2012

Organized by topschools.hk, the Kids Photo Fun Day is set for this coming Saturday at our studio.  To find out more, check out the event’s Facebook Page.  RSVP at is needed, please call 9339 4749 for information. Best yet, the event is free.

Why: You’ll have fun, meet new friends and get a minimum of TEN images of your kids taken by professional photographers. You’ll be supporting www.topschools.hk which aims to help parents all over Hong Kong to save time, stress and money in finding school places. We all understand the importance of visual appeal on a website. To have your kids’ smiling faces on there and in the marketing materials would be super-special.

When: 17 March 2012, 11am – 6pm. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day. We’ll be having cakes for everyone at 5pm! ArtWalk Hong Kong 2012 – 14 March 2012

Now entering its 12th successful year, Hong Kong ArtWalk is Hong Kong’s biggest charity art event; a great one-night experience showcasing a range of visual arts in a variety of Hong Kong’s art galleries in the SOHO, Wan Chai, Sheung Wan, Central, Aberdeen and Happy Valley areas of Hong Kong Island.

Artwalk is simple: 66 galleries will open their doors between 5 pm to 12 midnight on Wednesday, 14 March 2012. ArtWalk tickets are on sale from early March from one of the ticket-selling galleries and you will receive a comprehensive ArtWalk brochure, map and entry badge allowing entry at any of the galleries on ArtWalk night. You can then take any route in any order to visit (or re-visit) galleries and can sip free wine, beer and mineral water in all the participating galleries - and enjoy ‘finger food’ provided by our generous sponsoring restaurants.

The ArtWalk benefiting charity for 2012 is, as last year, the Society for Community Organization (SoCO) – last year, a donation of HK$400,000 was raised from tickets sold from ArtWalk and donated to SoCO. Since the first ArtWalk began in 2001 over HK$5 million has been donated to Hong Kong charities.

The volunteers helping ‘man the doors’ on ArtWalk night are fine arts students from the Academy of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University and the Fine Arts Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong – in return, ArtWalk also makes a donation to fund their yearly graduation shows.

ArtWalk Extra features additional displays of art that you can also see while walking from gallery to gallery: photography, small-scale installation and artists’ performances. SoCO will also introduce their social action & policy work to the public and ArtWalk participants in a one-week exhibition.

Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Open Day – 11 March 2012

一年一度的香港演藝學院開放日將於3月11日（星期日）舉行。學院除開放本部及伯大尼校園，亦會安排連串免費表演節目，包括舞蹈、戲劇、音樂及粵劇演出，以及學院開放日除讓公眾近距離接觸藝術，亦設課程詢問處，方便有志報讀演藝學院的人士查詢各項全日制或兼讀課程。

電影放映會、圖書館導賞團，和舞台效果製作及示範等活動。

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is having their 2012 annual Open Day on 11 March, visitors are welcome to visit their main campus in Wanchai, and their heritage campus at Béthanie at Pokfulam to enjoy performances and screening sessions by  School of Dance, Drama, Film/Television, Music, Theatre and Entertainment Arts, Cantonese Opera, and EXCEL office (Extension and Continuing Education for Life). There will tours to their back-stage production sets, and to the library. For convenience, free shuttle-bus service between the two campuses will be available.

黑白作品展: 我在大角咀的日子 – 2012年3月4日

旺角街坊會- 主辦第八屆大角咀廟會將於2012年3月4日在大角咀廟會中展覽黑白作品展: 我在大角咀的日子

地點:在於(菩提街)近福全街  

內容: 以大角咀和舊區及訴說舊區的人物的故事. 作品全部用120及4″x 5″ 黑白菲林拍攝配合在街上展覽並以用另類創作形式將作品展出在此舊區生活了四十多年, 碼頭變商場, 一座座舊樓倒下, 大型豪宅林立. 希望為大角咀拍攝一些將會清失的  影像作為大家的集體回憶將來分享. 

除此之外當日「愛在大角咀中找你」的藝術總監 – Jino Yeung 會展出大型紙作品四件，所佔範圍約6米。並於展區內銷售「愛在大角咀中找你」的產品，部份收益將捐贈大角咀街坊福利作區內慈善用途，更會與區內小童及青少年教授紙張立體模型，即場攝製以作交流及記念.
